(PRWEB) April 5, 2006 -- introNetworks, Inc. today announced that more than 90 percent of TED2006 attendees registered and used introNetworks at the recent conference. introNetworks is an “online introduction network” for businesses, associations, and organizations that host conferences, meetings, events, and forums where making the right connections are a top priority.
“ People do not know I’m good at. ”
“TED is built around the idea that community without a conversation doesn’t work,” said Chris Anderson, host of the TED Conference. “introNetworks allows conference attendees, sponsors and speakers to continue that conversation in a secure online forum outside the walls of the in-person conference and into the next year.”
The first ever introNetworks community was developed specifically for TED2003 as a way to optimize the networking experience for attendees. Three years later, introNetworks is still helping TED attendees make connections before, during and after the conference through a secure, online community designed specifically for conference attendees. This year the system was completely revamped to provide an even richer matching experience for the attendees. Instead of matching from a pool of 120 keywords that were tailored for the event, the attendees selected personal values, what they had to offer other attendees, and what they were looking for from other attendees. Attendees used the system to discover other entrepreneurs, idea generators or global souls, which were just a few of the custom designed keywords offered in the system. The display was also customized to show matches using a color code to help attendees narrow their searches down in seconds.
Upon completion of the profile, users were able contact other members to exchange information and schedule meetings using introMail, the system’s internal, personalized, spam-free messaging center. More than 5,000 messages were exchanged between TED conference attendees within the introNetworks community. Attendees were notified of their incoming messages on large displays throughout the conference that provided a real-time link to the introNetwork system. When exiting a session they could instantly see that someone had sent them a message and they could login to one of the many kiosks to retrieve the mail. The Message Center was customized this year to pull out attendees’ answers to one of the questions: “People do not know I’m good at.” Each of the 1000 answers were then displayed and rotated through every 15 seconds, which provided a clever insight into the Conference attendees.
introNetworks also innovated and delivered a compelling application called the Prize Selector that randomly selected attendees who had opted into the introNetwork System and visually displayed them on the main screen. The randomly selected attendees became eligible to win one of the legendary prizes donated by TED’s sponsors. This new way to use the introNetwork’s information took away the tedious process of picking names out of a hat and provided a bit of entertainment and suspense.
“Developing professional relationships is a cornerstone to success. With more than 1,000 attendees, meeting the right people at a conference as large as TED can be next to impossible,” said Kymberlee Weil, co-founder and chief operating officer, introNetworks. “Attendees used introNetworks to gain insight into the entire conference audience, to deliberately pinpoint - and network with - their most valuable connections.”
TED is an annual conference that brings together thought leaders,
movers and shakers for four days of laughing, learning and inspiration. Attendees discuss the latest ideas in technology, entertainment and design – and also
business, science and the arts – and other subjects that offers something fresh and important especially as it might relate to something that could change the world.
