Sundance Vacations, Angela and Amber Cope Kick Off ARCA Partnership(PRWEB) September 1, 2006 -- Twin race car drivers, Angela and Amber Cope, kicked off their four race ARCA season with Sundance Vacations as their sponsor on August 26 and 27. The girls traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Governor’s Cup 150 at the Milwaukee Mile. Since the twins share a car, it was Angela's turn to take the wheel this week.
The Milwaukee Mile is the longest track that the girls have raced on to date with a distance of 1.5 miles. However, Angela proved that they were ready for the new challenge during her practice and qualifying runs.
On Saturday, Angela qualified an impressive 19th out of 45 cars. She showed improvement during her qualifying round, as she picked up six tenths of a second from her practice run.
The #72 Sundance Vacations Monte Carlo started in the 19th position on Sunday for the 200 lap Governor’s Cup. Angela made her way to 16th with just over 100 laps to go before the car ran out of gas. The car had to be pushed off the track to be refueled. The #72 got back into the race but not before losing almost 30 laps. The crew decided to save the car and Angela withdrew before finishing the race.
Following the race, the girls traveled to Chicago where Amber tested the car at Chicagoland Speedway in preparation for next week’s Hantz Group 200 at Toledo Speedway in Ohio. The girls' uncle, Derrike Cope, accompanied them for their test run in Chicago before leaving to make an appearance in Pennsylvania at the Sundance Vacations booth at the Great Allentown Fair on Wednesday, August 31.
After competing in Toledo on September 1st and 2nd, the Cope twins will prepare for the SK Hand Tool 200 at Chicagoland Speedway on September 9th.
