In February 2005 her challenge began. Little did she know the involvement and knowledge it would take to master the art of candle making? Not to mention the financial investment.

Because of her candle obsession over the years she knew her candles had a high stake to live up to. Melissa’s way of thinking was “what’s the point in burning a candle you can’t smell”. So with many trials and errors, Melissa is very satisfied with the outcome of her current 2006 line of soy candles.

Along with soy candles Melissa has decided to expand her “smells” line with bath and body products which include soy hand lotion, soy massage oil, bath salts and such. And we can’t forget her newest creation old fashioned handmade lye soap.

So with the fascination and passion switching focus to her “smells” line she also changed the name of her business in 2005 from “Melissa’s Quilts N Crafts” to “Mel’s Smells etc.” The “etc” at the end of her new business name still leaves room for her quilts and purses she still creates from time to time.
