Local Man Innovates Glowing Paint to Aid Escape and Rescue

A never before available water-based paint that proves more effective and cheaper than existing paints has been developed by Michael Thomas of Pendleton in response to changed safety standards since 9/11. This type of paint is used to direct people out of danger in the event of evacuation, especially when the power has gone out which can render safety lighting useless. Research, development, U.S. patent acquisition, and manufacture setup has poised Thomas’ Safety Glow USA LLC to start rolling cans of paint out of the warehouse.

Thomas developed the paint formula without using the commonly used Strontium pigment which will soon become obsolete in its current application as it is can not be used in water-based paint without expensive alterations to the formula. Material Equipment Acceptance Standards, already adopted by New York, embrace water-based applications and will phase out those that are solvent or oil-based. With comparable prices to currently marketed paints, Safety Glow USA paints offer cost savings above others because they cover with just one coat as opposed to those that take three and sometimes four to achieve the same Luminescent glow properties under the current regulations.

A U.S. patent is pending on Thomas’ innovative pigment having already acquired a patent for his related glow-in-the-dark fabric dye which makes safety products like harnesses, leashes and vests noticeable without daylight and visible through smoke. Thomas built a machine to dye yarns made of different materials and denier sizes which allows them to be incorporated into existing products or used for embroidering. Too, he has begun developing non-slip epoxy for areas that become dangerous when wet and automotive paints.

For the past five years, while Thomas developed these glow-in-the-dark safety products, his need for assistance went unmet. Now a man, who excels with the science of the matter, who professes neither business management knowledge nor the ability to conduct sales calls has begun incorporating Safety Glow with plans to sell shares in the quest for capital needed to forge ahead. Having fallen short of producing large quantities of his paint to distribute to a network he has in place, Thomas needs investors to continue. He estimates 20 shares each sold for a $1,000 investment will allow him to bring his products to market.
