Millions of Baby Boomers will visit aging parents over the holidays and be stricken with Elder Shock, a reaction to indications of parents' decline. Parent Care, a leading eldercare website is providing a practical two-part series with tools to address this holiday malady.

San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) December 3, 2006 -- As millions of Baby Boomers begin packing for holiday trips home to visit the folks, many will also carry a heavy load of dread and uncertainty. Their sense of foreboding is due to changes they fear they will encounter during their visits. Will their parents have become frail physically, show indications of mental decline, need more assistance than there is time to provide? Bracing for what is termed Holiday Elder Shock is casting a pall over what should be a festive holiday. Parent Care is providing a two-part article to help Boomers prepare for shocks prior to departing and effectively addressing them upon their return home.

Part One of the series urges Boomers to plan ahead instead of panicking. It provides a list of red flags to watch for, items that can be addressed during the visit and information that should be gathered to address some situations upon Boomers' return home. The first installment covers some typical scenarios that the seniors' progeny frequently encounter and provide tools to resolve them. The tools include a variety of easy to complete checklists including pre-visit preparations, important contact information, Medicare Part D forms, year end tax planning tips and hazard removal.

Part Two guides concerned Boomers through steps they can take to resolve situations that couldn't be addressed during the visit.
