“ These guys do not give accreditation to everyone ”
Faremax, Inc., online retailer of discount airline tickets, vacations and cruises, announced this week that it had received ARC/IATA accreditation which will allow the agency to issue its own airline tickets.
Marlboro, NJ (
PRWEB) November 13, 2006 -- Faremax, Inc., online retailer of
discount airline tickets, vacations and cruises, announced this week that it had received ARC/IATA accreditation which will allow the agency to issue its own airline tickets rather than buy via third parties. Faremax already offers significant discounts to its customers, and it is anticipated that accreditation will result in ever deep price cuts.
ARC (the Airlines Reporting Corporation) handles the disbursement of cash and issuance of tickets between travel agents and American and international airlines. IATA (the International Air Transport Association) regulates competition and pricing between its member airlines. Agents that lack their own ARC/IATA accreditation must process reservations through third-party providers, meaning an extra cost must be passed on to the end-customer. Accredited agents, on the other hand, are often in a position to negotiate directly with the airlines thus offering deeper discounts.
Ilya Epshteyn, Faremax CEO, is pleased that the long and stringent application process for accreditation has been successful. "These guys do not give accreditation to everyone," he says, "and although we've been an established and well-known reseller of
airline tickets for some years we still had to prove that we're a serious, competent organization."
Epshteyn is confident that the effort has been worth it, though: "we were already offering big discounts to our customers -- now we're going to be one of the most competitive agencies out there. With travel prices going up all the time, we think it's important to deliver real value to our customers."
