(PRWEB) July 28, 2006 -- This August, Life On Purpose Institute, Inc. will celebrate its 10th year of creating a World On Purpose. The organization traces its origin back to a cover story written by founder, Dr. Brad Swift, that appeared in Yoga Journal on Simple Living in a Complex World in August of 1996.
“ Clarity of purpose was the key ”
"Over the past decade I've been thrilled to witness a new world that's emerging where purpose matters, perhaps more than it ever has," says Swift. "I believe the tragedy of September 11 was a huge wake-up call for so many of us around the world. People everywhere began to re-evaluate what really mattered the most to them, and having a clear purpose for their life moved way up on the priority list for many of them."
It was in the interest of documenting and sharing about this emerging world -- a world on purpose, that led Swift to commission the production of the Life On Purpose Movie (
http://www.lifeonpurposemovie.com) as part of the Institute's 10th anniversary, although it was one of his former clients and Life On Purpose coach, Wayne Marshall, who originally came to him with the idea. "Wayne was looking for a way to combine his IT talents with a desire to help share about this emerging world on purpose, so when he approached me about producing an Internet based movie, it made sense," says Swift.
A former veterinarian, Swift experienced a midlife crisis that eventually led him to founding Life On Purpose Institute, Inc. in August of 1996.
"I burned out in my former profession, big time," admits Swift. "Even though I'd wanted to be a vet since I was 7 years old, I found after about 12 years in practice I hated going into work. To make matters worse, the stress at work had a profoundly negative influence on my personal life, all of which led to a point where I was abusing alcohol and drugs, and eventually even contemplated suicide before I finally woke up and realized life didn't have to be so hard."
But it took Swift close to 10 years to turn his life around. It was at that point that he reflected back in an effort to determine what had made the biggest difference in his life. "Clarity of purpose was the key," says Swift. "I'd finally done the inner work necessary to get clear about who I am and what I came to this life to experience. It's made all the difference. Now, I just want to share that possibility with as many people as I can before I move along to the next great adventure."
In the process of making his life transformation and transition, Swift realized that many other people his own age and older were still clueless about their life purpose. "I'm a spiritual person. I believe in a higher power, so one day I asked a couple of questions of my higher power." Those questions were: Does it really need to take most us humans 30, 40, 50 or more years to become clear about our life purpose? Isn't there some way to shorten the learning curve a bit?
It was from those questions and the answered that came to Swift that the Life On Purpose Process emerged. "I describe it as a proven, systematic, spiritually based, and practical approach to assist people to clarify their life purpose and to then live true to their purpose. I personally find it's so rewarding to experience that moment when another person finally realizes their true, Divinely Inspired Life Purpose. Assisting in that process is such a rewarding experience. It simply doesn't get any better."
