business for one another, thanks to the historic launch of Taiwan's first BNI chapter. Taiwan is the 27th country for BNI, an international referral networking organization that helps businesses and professionals cultivate success through word-of-mouth marketing.

A core group of 16 committed members quickly grew to about 30 from all key professions by the day of the launch. The meeting room was filled with excitement March 31st as 126 guests gathered to celebrate Taiwan's first BNI chapter.
Jihong Hall ran the chapter's first meeting like an expert. "It was a tremendous effort from our
local director, Simon Wang, and our founding members to make this event such a success," Hall said afterwards. "Two of our members, Gloria Liu and Fiona Lee, brought no fewer than 30 guests between them! With 10 membership applications from this inaugural meeting, the Qi Qian chapter truly will be the flagship chapter for the region."
In addition to Hall, others have been working to establish BNI's presence in Taiwan. The leadership team includes BNI Taiwan Executive Director Simon Wang, BNI Taiwan Regional Director Carson Chu, and recently trained new directors Xie Smart and Xie Marco.
To help prepare for the kick-off, Wang had visited BNI meetings and a chapter launch in the United Kingdom, and completed Member Success Training.
As exciting as this launch of Taiwan's first BNI chapter is, the future is equally bright. Three new core groups have already begun and are planning their own kick-offs.
BNI's "givers gain" philosophy fits well with Taiwanese
business culture, since relationships there are based on respect and trust. BNI helps professionals create opportunity in part by establishing and nurturing lasting relationships that result in mutual benefit.
